Integrative Health Care, which assesses and treatment plans around a “whole person’s” experience offers preventative strategies to improve health outcomes—especially for those with mental and substance abuse disorders. My collaborative work with patients aspires to not only improve their quality of life and treat underlying mood and substance abuse issues, but also to prevent future illness or to help those with chronic illness better manage these conditions.
My psychology practice specializes in the use of state-of-the-art, evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. My primary specialties include addiction medicine, anxiety and mood disorders treatment, and trauma recovery. I also specialize in minority stress and health. I am involved in public policy and legislation, writing, lecturing, and training—all with the strong belief that community-based interventions are also part of treating the individual.
